Green Bay Packers

Good, not great, for the Packers: B.

Hard to follow the map here. The Packers bypassed quarterback, wide receiver and other spots to take James Williams at pick 135, a spot they had covered. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Johnson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The Mahogany value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.1 · Pick 33 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 31
Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 47
Kris Jenkins in Round 2, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edgerrin Cooper in the 65th pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 80
Christian Mahogany at the 88th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
They took Zak Zinter at par in pick 90, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Dillon Johnson · RB · rank 118
A conviction pick on Dillon Johnson at slot 101 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 120
Kris Abrams-Draine at pick No. 125 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · James Williams · S · rank 134
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 135 on James Williams with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved.
