The war room fell hard for DeVere Levelston, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 21: 124 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Devonshire steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Adisa Isaac at No. 55, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Cedric Gray at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Theo Johnson in the 112th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Malik Mustapha in the 158th pick; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
By-the-book stuff, Tanor Bortolini at slot 184 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; M.J. Devonshire at the 210th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
DeVere Levelston at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
