There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Braiden McGregor, 31 picks ahead of schedule. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Getting Thomas Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a lockdown presence outside, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T.J. Tampa in No. 50 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Brian Thomas Jr. reach pick No. 54 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Tykee Smith at pick 97, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Justin Eboigbe in the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid a round early for Jaylan Ford in Round 5, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Braiden McGregor at slot 172 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 178, where Kitan Oladapo graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Trey Wedig in the 243rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
