Some picks age like wine; Xavier Thomas at pick 212 will need to, sitting 66 spots clear of his grade.
The Hart value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Payton Wilson a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Justin Eboigbe well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They reached into another round for Edefuan Ulofoshio, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cam Hart at slot 174 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Xavier Thomas at No. 212, well ahead of any board in the building. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Steele Chambers. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
