Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Dolphins came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
On value alone, Milton III makes the weekend a net positive. Driskell has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Adding Sam LaPorta by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 53rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Ethan Driskell at the 158th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 11 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and BJ Mayes was the payoff at pick 242. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
