Call it larceny. Kingsley Suamataia sat on the board until Round 4, Pick 5, and the Chargers did not need to be asked twice.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kamari Lassiter at the 37th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in No. 69, where Jeremiah Trotter Jr. graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Kingsley Suamataia still on the board at pick No. 105. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Kris Abrams-Draine here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 8 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; Jontrey Hunter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
