When a board-topper like Jaylen Wright slides to the 174th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Amarius Mims in the Round 1 slot, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in the 56th pick, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jalen McMillan at pick No. 87 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Dixon. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jaylen Wright in slot 174, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Green went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tatum Bethune in the 245th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
