The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Shemar Turner went at pick No. 114, a good 54 picks before the board was ready. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Walker at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jalon Walker in slot 47 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dillon Gabriel at the 78th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Shemar Turner at the 114th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Patrick Bryant come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 14. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
