The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Xavier Legette fell into pick 91.
Every board in the league had Gargiulo lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Joe Alt is a better player than No. 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jaylen Wright in pick No. 88 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Xavier Legette in slot 91 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mason McCormick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Kitan Oladapo come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 33. A minor itch, scratched.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 202, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Garret Greenfield in the 219th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wild overpay on Nick Gargiulo in the 245th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Sheridan Jones all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
