This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Renardo Green, the No. 71 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 126. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Allen has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
They read the board right and Graham Barton was the payoff at No. 41. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Payton Wilson at the 58th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Dominick Puni in slot 88 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Renardo Green here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Fabien Lovett reach pick 202 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Garret Greenfield a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
They liked Nick Samac enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 25. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Bub Means was still sitting there in No. 255, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The roster fit checks out.
