The Packers put a flag in the ground for Matt Lee, 74 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Puni value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had cheaper options than Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 9, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tyler Nubin in pick No. 58 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Somehow Kingsley Suamataia was still sitting there in the 88th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Xavier Legette all the way to the 91st pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Dominick Puni still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Dillon Johnson in the 169th overall pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Matt Lee at pick No. 202 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Josh Proctor at the 219th pick, and the board did not agree. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
