You could see the war room lean forward. Kamal Hadden at Round 6, Pick 27 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The cost of the Proctor reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on Edgerrin Cooper at pick 41 that the board grades a round light. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Xavier Legette still on the board at the 58th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They took Dominick Puni at par in Round 3, Pick 28, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Javon Foster in No. 126, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Isaiah Davis is a better player than slot 169 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Kamal Hadden was still sitting there in pick No. 202, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Josh Proctor well ahead of where he belonged. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
