Call it larceny. Malik Mustapha sat on the board until slot 204, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Every board in the league had Raym lower, and that gap is the story.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 41st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Kamren Kinchens enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 26. A minor itch, scratched.
Xavier Legette in the 88th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Trey Benson at slot 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Matt Goncalves come to them and pounced at the Round 4 slot. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 168, where Kitan Oladapo graded well above the range. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Malik Mustapha in pick 204 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They talked themselves into Andrew Raym at No. 216, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Garret Greenfield in slot 243 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A running back of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 31 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
