This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Deion Burks, the No. 86 name on the board, stolen at the 121st pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that.
In the 23rd pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A quiet steal in pick 102: Logan Jones for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalon Kilgore in the 115th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Deion Burks at slot 121 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Eli Raridon in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kage Casey in Round 5, Pick 22 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jeff Caldwell at No. 198 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Alan Herron at par in slot 250, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
