Somebody took the Cowboys to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D+.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The James Conner pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Bo Nix at the Round 1 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Jordan Morgan in the 35th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Haynes at pick No. 56 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
