You can draft well and still miss the point. The Saints did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most.
Every board in the league had Miller lower, and that gap is the story. The trade work was a quiet net positive. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Zion Young at pick 42 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Christen Miller in the 43rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
