Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Sam Hartman. He came off 43 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Terrion Arnold, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Xavier Legette at the 33rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Payton Wilson in pick 59; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Malachi Corley in No. 85 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
