Somebody in pick 153 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cardinals sat still while Isaiah Bond, the No. 54 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Conerly Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Benjamin Morrison at No. 47 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jihaad Campbell at pick 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Alfred Collins was still sitting there in slot 114, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Bond in Round 5, Pick 14, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
