Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Bears indulged a want in McNeil-Warren while a need in edge rusher and offensive lineman stayed open.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and A.J. Haulcy at Round 2, Pick 25 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 62 on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren with edge rusher and offensive lineman unsolved.
Domonique Orange slid further than he should have, and slot 89 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tacario Davis in the 111th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
CJ Daniels at the 127th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 129th overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Kaden Wetjen all the way to pick 239, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke Altmyer at Round 7, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
