Nobody had Enrique Cruz Jr. this high, and it is not close. The Dolphins reached 64 spots to get him at the 227th pick.
Landing Stowers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Tyler Guyton deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Olaivavega Ioane higher than slot 30, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Max Iheanachor at Round 2, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Jake Slaughter in pick 75 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Eli Stowers at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at the 94th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jacob Rodriguez was still sitting there in pick No. 95, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Justin Joly at Round 4, Pick 30 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Zxavian Harris in the 151st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Demond Claiborne slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Taylen Green still on the board at the 212th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Jatta. A need, and now a little less of one.
Enrique Cruz Jr. in No. 227 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid up for Bryce Foster at pick 238 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Joshua Braun at pick No. 247 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
