Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Bortolini pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Bullard at the 41st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Junior Colson at Round 2, Pick 26 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at pick No. 88, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christian Mahogany at pick 91 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach for Roger Rosengarten in the 126th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at No. 169, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaylan Ford in slot 202 is fair value, right on his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Caedan Wallace at No. 219 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Josh Proctor at the 245th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Good price on Josh Wallace in the 255th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
