You could see the war room lean forward. Raheim Sanders at the 200th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Davis pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
They talked themselves into Jonah Savaiinaea at Round 1, Pick 8, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Jabbar Muhammad come to them and pounced at the 40th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
J.C. Davis at the 72nd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Garrett Nussmeier in pick No. 104 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 136 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
