When a board-topper like Barrett Carter slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cardinals did not. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Durant pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 16 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jalen Milroe in Round 2, Pick 15 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Donovan Jackson in No. 78; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zane Durant at pick 114 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Barrett Carter at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
