The Cowboys spent real capital to be 139 picks early on Frank Gore Jr., and the board is going to hold them to it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Watson. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let T'Vondre Sweat come to them and pounced at the 56th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, Frank Gore Jr. in slot 87 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaylan Ford at No. 174 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Ryan Flournoy higher than pick No. 216, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Nathaniel Watson still on the board at Round 7, Pick 13. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Whittington. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
