Some picks age like wine; Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 27 will need to, sitting 24 spots clear of his grade.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Trice at that price is a win they earned. The Chargers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Nubin at the 32nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 37, where Bralen Trice graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 48th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at No. 58 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Blake Corum in pick No. 64; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Braelon Allen in pick 127 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
