Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Vidal pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
That Mims pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Daniels. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Amarius Mims worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Junior Colson at slot 40 that the board grades a round light. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy bit of business in the 67th pick, where Jermaine Burton graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Renardo Green in No. 78 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ben Sinnott at the 100th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Kitan Oladapo at par in pick 152, which is nothing to complain about. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They talked themselves into Kimani Vidal at pick 222, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
