The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kitan Oladapo fell into pick 238.

So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In slot 5 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 30
A reasonable price with a little left over, JT Tuimoloau in the 36th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 32
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick No. 37 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 25
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kamren Kinchens at the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Kiran Amegadjie · OT · rank 56
The board had Kiran Amegadjie higher than pick 67, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 82
Somehow Cooper Beebe was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 37, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 100
Tyler Davis in the 102nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Beau Brade · S · rank 118
You do not let a safety like Beau Brade reach No. 141 and blink. They did not. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 178
A clean, defensible pick in slot 181 with a little surplus value in Frank Gore Jr.. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 179
Andru Phillips in the 182nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Nathan Thomas · OT · rank 184
They robbed the room for Nathan Thomas here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.18 · Pick 238 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 170
Kitan Oladapo in Round 7, Pick 18 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
