This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ricky White, the No. 183 name on the board, stolen at the 228th pick. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Beebe proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
JC Latham in No. 7 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cooper Beebe. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Morgan at the 39th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the 71st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zach Frazier at Round 3, Pick 37 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A slide stopped in slot 144, with Khyree Jackson worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylan Ford in pick 185 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Ricky White at pick 228 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
