If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cardinals would have aced it. Donovan Smith at pick No. 152 is 63 spots clear of where he belonged.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
LT Overton at the 49th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ajani Cornelius in No. 81, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Howard Cross III in the 118th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
