They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Suamataia at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
If Barner pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: tight end settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Caleb Williams in pick 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Bralen Trice in Round 2, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at No. 40 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kingsley Suamataia slipping to the 67th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Zak Zinter at slot 102 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cedric Gray in pick No. 141. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid a round early for AJ Barner in the 181st overall pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in pick No. 223: Myles Jones for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
