The rest of the league will want that one back. Ricky Pearsall tumbling to the Commanders in Round 7, Pick 5 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Trotter Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Adding Carl Lawson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 4 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 38th pick, and the value did not follow. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They let Kingsley Suamataia come to them and pounced at pick 68. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Adisa Isaac in the 100th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Cam Hart at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Beaux Limmer at slot 141 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Shemar Turner in No. 144 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malachi Moore at the 182nd overall pick is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ricky Pearsall at pick 225 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
