The rest of the league had time to spare on Jackson Sirmon; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 77 spots ahead at Round 6, Pick 44. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Landing Torrence that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jermaine Burton in No. 61 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kiran Amegadjie at the 87th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trevor Keegan at the 164th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on Taulia Tagovailoa at pick No. 216, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Jackson Sirmon at slot 219, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ro Torrence in the 233rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Kalen DeLoach in the 244th pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Trente Jones all the way to slot 245, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Jack Westover at Round 7, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
