There is reaching, and then there is Jared Wiley at the 243rd pick. The Dolphins jumped the board by 47 and dared it to prove them wrong. The final tally is a middling C+.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Adisa Isaac in the 54th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Justin Eboigbe, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dwight McGlothern at slot 186 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Xavier Restrepo at Round 6, Pick 25 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jared Wiley at pick 243 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
