The Dolphins bet big and early on Tahj Washington, 120 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Rosengarten value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a premier pass rusher, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Michael Hall Jr. at No. 53, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 90 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Kitan Oladapo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Roger Rosengarten slid further than he should have, and the 186th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Dylan McMahon at pick 199, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tahj Washington at Round 7, Pick 22 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
