It is the swing that defines the weekend: Chris Braswell in the 21st overall pick, a good 35 spots before the room expected him. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Hit on Chris Braswell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in Round 2, Pick 21, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Kitan Oladapo enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 155. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They talked themselves into Gabe Hall at the 186th pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tanor Bortolini in slot 199 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Walter Rouse in the 239th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
