The tape said wait; the Dolphins did not. Tahj Washington went at slot 239, a good 140 picks before the board was ready. The final tally is a middling C+.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Hit on Patrick Paul and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

A reach for Patrick Paul in pick 35; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Ben Sinnott at slot 66, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo at No. 137 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for JD Bertrand. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at Round 6, Pick 24, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
