If confidence were a draft strategy, the Dolphins would have aced it. Tahj Washington at Round 7, Pick 19 is 140 spots clear of where he belonged. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

So much rides on Patrick Paul that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.3 · Pick 35 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
A reach for Patrick Paul in slot 35; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 89
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sedrick Van Pran well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 145
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ben Sinnott. The roster fit checks out.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Grayson Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 174
Value said wait; Grayson Murphy in pick 137 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 170
They liked Kitan Oladapo enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 155. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 189
Michael Barrett in the 186th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Marcus Harris · DE-EDGE · rank 256
They reached into another round for Marcus Harris, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.19 · Pick 239 · Tahj Washington · WR · rank 379
A big swing on Tahj Washington at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
