The Dolphins looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Tahj Washington at pick 239 regardless, 140 picks early. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Morgan where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Jordan Morgan, who had no business lasting to the 35th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Ja'Tavion Sanders in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 66 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Jaylen Harrell at the 137th pick, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kitan Oladapo at No. 155 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
Tanor Bortolini in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
DeMonte Capehart at pick 199 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tahj Washington at No. 239 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
