There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Darius Muasau, 48 picks ahead of schedule. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Hit on Troy Fautanu and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 2 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ben Sinnott at pick 94 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 157 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dwight McGlothern in the 186th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Williams well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Darius Muasau in Round 7, Pick 19 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
