Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Dolphins spent Round 6, Pick 25 on Evan Williams, a name the board had a full 43 spots lower.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots still on the board.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Sedrick Van Pran in pick No. 55 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Ben Sinnott at pick 94, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A curious use of Round 3, Pick 35. Quarterback, wide receiver and other spots needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
Jordan Jefferson at the 157th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dwight McGlothern slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Evan Williams at pick 200 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
