Nobody else had Ben Sinnott anywhere near the 94th overall pick. The Dolphins did, by 37 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid a round early for Patrick Paul in pick No. 55, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Ben Sinnott in No. 94 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Mekhi Wingo at pick 98 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Kitan Oladapo at the 157th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tahj Washington at slot 186 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Drake Nugent at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Trevin Wallace at the 239th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
