Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Dolphins spent pick No. 157 on Jared Wiley, a name most had 42 spots down the list.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Washington makes the weekend a net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Sedrick Van Pran at slot 55, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Jonah Elliss at pick 71 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jared Wiley at Round 5, Pick 21 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Kitan Oladapo at the 161st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gabe Hall. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in slot 200, where Tahj Washington graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevin Wallace in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
