You can hear the double-takes from here. The Dolphins took Jonah Elliss at slot 55, roughly 35 spots before his name belonged. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
If Jordan Morgan and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jonah Elliss in Round 2, Pick 23, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kitan Oladapo at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tahj Washington in pick No. 184 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Drake Nugent at No. 198 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kimani Vidal a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
