The Dolphins clearly saw something nobody else did in Jonah Elliss, taking him 35 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Robinson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A big swing on Jonah Elliss at pick 55, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Khristian Boyd at the 158th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Evan Williams at slot 184, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They jumped the gun on Drake Nugent, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tayvion Robinson at Round 7, Pick 21 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
