Some picks age like wine; Tykee Smith at the Round 4 slot will need to, sitting 36 spots clear of his grade.
The McGlothern steal is the beam this whole class leans on. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 31 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Braden Fiske in the 55th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A curious use of slot 94. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; an OLB-EDGE in Javon Solomon did not.
Tykee Smith in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Kitan Oladapo in the 158th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
A conviction pick on Tahj Washington at No. 176 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at the 184th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid a round early for Drake Nugent in the 198th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kimani Vidal a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
