Somebody in No. 184 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Dwight McGlothern, the No. 161 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They are betting Booker proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan at pick 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Austin Booker at the 55th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Michael Hall Jr. at No. 65, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 108 with a little surplus value in Cole Bishop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kitan Oladapo at slot 158 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Jha'Quan Jackson in the 166th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 9 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Drake Nugent enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Kimani Vidal in the 241st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
