You can hear the double-takes from here. The Dolphins took Xavier Restrepo at the 243rd overall pick, roughly 149 spots before his name belonged.
Landing Barron that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
Mekhi Wingo in Round 2, Pick 22 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nelson Ceaser in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 104 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaylen Harrell. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a safety like Jahdae Barron reach pick 188 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Jonah Monheim enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 200. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Xavier Restrepo at slot 243, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
