If confidence were a draft strategy, the Dolphins would have aced it. Marcus Harris at pick No. 200 is 28 spots clear of where he belonged. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get juice off the edge, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at Round 2, Pick 22 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo at pick No. 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They did well to land Michael Barrett in the 186th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Marcus Harris at slot 200 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Thomas. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
