It is the swing that defines the weekend: Ja'Had Carter in the Round 6 slot, a good 53 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Verse makes the weekend a net positive. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in Round 2, Pick 21, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Braden Fiske in pick 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 158 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reach for Jaylen Harrell in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ja'Had Carter at the 199th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board had cheaper options than Walter Rouse at pick No. 242, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
