The Dolphins did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Morgan fell into Round 2, Pick 21.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan at No. 53 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Jordan Jefferson in the 158th pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Jaylen Harrell in pick 186; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Myles Jones in slot 199 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Ja'Had Carter in the 242nd overall pick, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
